Have no idea what format its in but here is the hash:

C02211603C4DY4WAN8AEC309A663ABBA1

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

On a side note im working with a friend on a raspberry Pi keyboard encoder to try and brute force crack the 4 digit pins that are locked via icloud.
If im successful ill release the code free of charge, all you will need to do is wire a USB port to 4 of the GPIO pins and a photo sensor to the corner of the screen and it will do the rest.

I can confirm that the directions below this is the method to remove the firmware pw.

Format a Flash drive GUID partition scheme and Mac OS Extended format. Name it Firmware.
Drag the binary file named “SCBO” to your Desktop.
Open Terminal.
Execute this command in Terminal:
cp ~/Desktop/SCBO /Volumes/Firmware/.SCBO
You should get a new line, no errors.
Execute this command in Terminal:
cp ~/Desktop/SCBO /Volumes/Firmware/._SCBO
You should get a new line, no errors.
Eject the Flash drive.
Turn off the customer’s computer.
Insert the Flash drive into the customer’s computer.
Turn on the customer’s computer while pressing and holding the Option key.
You should see the lock symbol for a moment, and then the computer should restart to the Startup Manager.
If you still see a four-digit passcode lock after these steps at startup, reset the NVRAM by holding down Command-Option-P-R while restarting the computer.
The EFI password is now removed.

Does this actually work? And could it be done by using a surrogate Mac to host the SSD from the locked down macbook to create the unlocking USB before reinserting the SSD and unlocking USB into the locked down Macbook Air?

I'm simply providing this file to help exploit security issues so apple can create better security in the future.

i've uploaded the file to 4shared

@Wheeliest, I opened the SCBO file up in HxD, and lo and behold, the file starts off with SCBO......8.....0...C02144604WHDLD6AN0845D722CEAA029F. I assume this is the Hash. Wonder what the rest of the data in there is/does, and how it is encrypted?

Hi everyone.

Just out of curiosity, has anyone tried replacing the "bios" chip (I know its efi not bios)?

The reason I ask is that after many hours spent searching the Internet on the subject, it seems that if the password is stored within the atmel chip, you could take a chip pre-programmed with the firmware for that model and motherboard type of mac, the swap them over using a rework machine.

Has anyone tried that?

I've found a few sellers on eBay offering pre-programmed chips.

Any thoughts?

If you have the soldering skills, go for it but if you do... then I would invest my time in a PIC eeprom programmer and just flash a vanilla firmware on that puppy

I've read that the password is referenced in 2 or 3 chips and not just the atmel chip so I'm not sure if replacing or flashing the atmel chip will work.

Has anyone tried it?

Orvtech, I have the soldering skills and equipment to rework or solder, but not the knowledge for using a PIC programmer.

Never used one before.

If anyone needs help removing the 4 digit pin or the efi lock by brute force, I may be able to help.
Just unlocked our 2012 MBP with the teensy. I'm pretty tech savvy and it still wasn't too straight forward.
I got my information from here and orvtech.com, plus a couple of other forums, so I thought I'd give something back in the form of help and reassurance that it is possible.

If possible, PM me so I don't have to keep checking the forum or just use the forum but it may take me a day or so to reply.
You don't need to pay for a new board or weird eBay chip programmers or pricey foreign repair companies.
You just need the knowledge, time and the teensy.

Would it help if I do a video of how to upload the code to the Teensy?

Hi Orvtech, if your going to take the time to do a video, I would start at the download page for the two pieces of software and how to install them.
Then move on to adding the code.

Once again, thank you for your help.
